We are having our Annual General Meeting at 6.30 – 9.00 on 7 December at BMECP, 10A Fleet Street, Brighton, BN1 4ZE.  If you haven’t had an invitation, please sign up here to get on our mailing list.

The theme of the AGM is “how together we can best harness the enormous public support in Brighton & Hove towards seekers of sanctuary and make the city’s commitment to being a City of Sanctuary a reality”. That’s the essence of our draft strategy, and we will be asking you what you think of it.
We will update you on the outcome of the meeting we recently convened on unaccompanied asylum seeking children and there will be food! (voluntary donations).
Speakers will include:

  • Councillor Emma Daniel, Chair of the Neighbourhoods, Communities & Equalities Committee;
  • Yared Asfawteferi, a former high court judge in Ethopia and one of 79 people resettled to Brighton from a refugee camp in Kenya 10 years ago;
  • Tim Holtam, founder of Brighton Table Tennis Club, the first Club of Sanctuary.

If you are interested in joining the lovely bunch of people on our management committee, please get in touch – see below for details. We should particularly like to hear from refugee/migrant communities and faith groups.
