Sanctuary on Sea is proud to be hosting, in partnership with the University of Brighton:

Art, Refuge and Resistance 

 23rd October – 14th November, Grand Parade Café Gallery, University of Brighton

Featuring works by Syrian artist Wissam Al-Jazairy, the UNHCR Jordan Syrian Refugee Camps project directed by Hannah Rose Thomas, Calais photography by Chiara Lauvergnac, the Re-Making Picasso’s Guernica Collective and new participatory art from the Hummingbird Project, coordinated by Elaine Ortiz.

 The exhibition will launch with an open forum event:

The role of Art in Refuge and Resistance, 23rd October,  M2, University of Brighton, Grand Parade 

12.45 – 6pm ~ Film, visual art, performance and discussion

Performance by PHD Student Janina Moninska

6 – 7pm ~ Evening performance

Evening performance of story-telling and playback by Palestinian theatre maker, Fidaa Ataya
